Cancer Treatment

Cancer is a disease seen in many people. It is an unpredictable and an uncanny condition. But, today medical science has advanced so much in the different fields of cancer treatment that the cures and treatment for cancer are readily available. There are different alternatives available and the choice of a particular one depends upon the level of cancer. The different conventional treatment for cancer is radiation, surgery, hormone therapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. These therapies are tested therapies and are proved safe, acceptable and effective.

Surgery is the very oldest type of treatment for the cancer. Surgery is done basically for removing the cancer tumors and the adjoining lymph nodes and tissues around it. The radiation therapy uses either the X-rays or the gamma rays for destroying the cancer cells. Medicines or anticancer drugs used to treat cancer are known as chemotherapy. These drugs enter the body through the bloodstream and reach all the parts of the body, where cancer has been spread. The hormone therapy uses drugs to cease the production of some hormones responsible for causing cancer in the body. The immunotherapy uses treatments for supporting and promoting the immune system of the body to respond to diseases like cancer.

These cancer treatments, no doubt are associated with certain side effects. But these side effects are temporary and they disappear within a period of time. These treatments are either used alone or in combination depending on the type of disease to control the growth of the cancer cells and to eradicate the disease completely.
