Why You Should Hire an Interventionist

What is an Intervention?

An intervention is typically seen when family and friends get together with a loved one who is struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction and is not getting help, or is in denial of their addiction. The basic goal of an intervention is to help the struggling addict understand the effects that their addiction is having on the people that they love and to help them see that they need help with their addiction.

An intervention can take place with any group of people, but the object of an intervention is always the same, which is to help a person understand that they need help with their addiction.

Hiring an Interventionist

An interventionist can help you help your loved one realize that they have an addiction and may need treatment

An interventionist is a person who has experience and has been trained on the proper ways to create an intervention and who has the means to articulate the intervention so that the person the intervention is meant for will understand the reasoning behind their loved ones putting together the intervention.

If a person feels bombarded or threatened by their loved ones during an intervention, the individual may begin to pull away from the people that they care about and the problem will not be resolved. An intervention should be handled carefully and in a way that is not threatening or highly uncomfortable for the person the intervention is meant for.

Hiring an interventionist will ensure an intervention will go the best way possible and help a group of people reach the optimum results through the intervention process. In addition, many people who try to put together an intervention are unsure of the right words to say to get through to the person struggling with an addiction. An interventionist is knowledgeable on all addictions and can act as a facilitator throughout the intervention making sure that the right words are being said and every person’s point is understood.

According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, although interventions can fail, over 90% of interventions done with an interventionist result in the person committing to getting help for their addiction.

Hiring an interventionist may be the best option for a person to do if they decide they want to create an intervention for a loved one. An interventionist will have the knowledge and resources to help get the message across the individual who is struggling with an addiction.
