Although gambling is not a drug it is still an addiction that affects the brain chemistry in people and requires a lot of support and resources in order for a person to get rid of the addiction. Gambling can cause a person to loose very large sums of money in short periods of time and can cause a person to develop severe depression if not treated.

In addition to particular addiction treatment centers geared towards a certain addiction, there are treatments centers that are developed towards the religious and spiritual beliefs of a person to make them feel more comfortable when they join the program.
