Narcotic anonymous is a “non profit fellowship”. This organization can be said to be a society of all the men and women who are or were addicted to drugs. These people meet regularly and carry out different programs to help the addicted recover from their addiction. The only criteria for earning the membership of this group, is the desire of giving up the addiction. Anyone of any age, gender, religion can join the narcotics anonymous program. A person with any kind of addiction is free to join this program, this is largely because narcotics anonymous focus mainly on the “problem of addiction” and not on any specific drug.

This organization thus not provide with any medical back up for all those recovering from drug addict. However, the most important and positive thing about this organization is that it works. There are many addicts, who have recovered completely from their addiction with the help of this narcotics anonymous program.

The whole concept of this narcotic anonymous is-“one addict helping another” to get rid of his addiction. In any meetings held by the narcotic anonymous, the members share their experiences with others and talk about their own recovery from addiction. These meetings are “informally structured” in rented spaces with any member “opening or closing” the get-together. Mostly these meetings are held on a regular basis, in the same place.

Narcotics anonymous runs on funds raised through donations given by the members of the addicts and also through the sale of “recovery literature”. Donations from any other non-members are also accepted.
