Symptoms of ADHD in children

“Attention deficit hyperactivity disorders” is commonly known as the “ADHD”. This disorder is commonly seen in children and can turn into a chronic mental disorder. Since, this is a mental condition; ADHD largely affects the child’s progress at school and on social front. In a survey, it was found that boys are more prone to ADHD as compared to girls. Moreover, studies have proven that boys are “three times more likely” to suffer from ADHD than girls.

All these acts are mostly very common in adolescents, can be therefore, neglected by the adults. However, if ADHD is not detected, and treated early then it may cause long-term damage that will effect the future of that child. The symptoms of ADHD can take a long time to be diagnosed and sometimes it will go unnoticed till early teens.

The children with ADHD have difficulty in paying attention and concentrating on work or any activity, even those that are fun. They are likely to loose things often and get easily distracted. They face “problems with organization” and also “following instructions”. These kids are mostly inactive type.

The child with ADHD can also be very “hyperactive or impulsive type”. These children indulge in “excessive talking”, “playing quietly”. These children cannot be patient and often end up “interrupting or intruding”. Children with ADHD have little or no patience at all. Some of the children can either face a combination of the above two symptoms.

Remember that any child with ADHD is not a spoilt brat or a trouble maker and they are not “acting out”; it’s the ADHD disorder, that’s making it difficult for them to control their behavior. Therefore, they must be treated properly. Also, remember that ADHD can be completely cured with the help of proper medication and “behavioral therapy”.
