Center quote:
Our mission is to offer alcoholics and drug addicts affordable and effective drug detox and alcohol detox. In addition, to provide our clients effective alcohol treatment and drug treatment at all of our alcohol rehab and drug rehab centers. Finally, our mission is to create a treatment package that gives our clients the greatest value at an affordable price while maximizing shareholder value.
General Information: Orange County Detox was started in 2005 to offer the public an alternative to short-term hospitalization. Many individuals that enter a hospital for alcohol poisoning, alcohol detox or severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms are discharged soon after they are detoxed, rehydrated and medicated. They are given a script and told not to drink alcohol anymore. That treatment model is fairly ineffective if the goal is lifelong sobriety. The problem lies in the cost associated with hospitalization that can be in excess of $1,500.00 per day. Most hospitals cannot afford to right off expenses incurred from adequately treating individuals with alcohol problems. The relapse probability is much too great and that usually means the hospital will not get paid. The hospital prefers a quick solution (minimize costs) that often leaves out an effective treatment model. Most alcoholics are uninsured and cannot afford costly hospital bills; so they opt out of getting any help. They continue their self destructive lifestyle often self-medicating their problems. We realized that a person cannot just stop drinking and turn their life around. They have to be given the tools to do so. At Orange County Detox we developed a proprietary alcohol detox program that not only separates the alcohol from the individual in a safe and comfortable manner but we also educate the client from a basis of self knowledge because we have lived it. We offer lifetime commitment to our clients; which you will find usually has a cost associated with it at most hospitals and alcohol rehabs throughout the United States. Not here! If you’re alumni of Orange County Detox and need to talk or come to a meeting we extend an open invitation for life. We are not a sterile clinic; we want to see and hear from our alumni. The greatest motivation we get in doing our day to day job is seeing the mended families, the children’s smiles, the appreciative mother and father and most of all the physical and psychological changes that are so obvious when a sick person regains their health. We are here today because we believe we offer the best solution to a seemingly hopeless situation. There is a way out and we know it because we live it.
Facility Description: The beginning of Orange County Rehab came in response to many of our clients’ need for extended care. Many of our clients have experienced several admissions into various types of alcohol rehab centers. Chronic relapse is a very real phenomenon throughout the history of alcohol addiction and recovery. Orange County Rehab began as an alternative alcohol treatment program for clients categorized as “high risk for relapse” clients. It is designed to give these clients an opportunity to stay close, feel safe and remain in a structured environment. We now offer basic extended care alcohol programs from 30 to 180 days. We want our clients to enter back into life feeling confident and motivated and not to hide from life and their responsibilities. The general rule is the longer a person stays in alcohol rehab the greater their chances of staying sober over the long haul. Each person is assessed and evaluated separately to see which program is best for them. We priced our programs to offer our clients the best value for their money. We have not seen or heard of any facility that offers what we offer at a better price.
Treatment Philosophy Statement: Most alcoholics do not change because they see the light, rather, because they feel the heat. The pain an individual feels prior to entering an alcohol detox center or alcohol rehab center can turn out to be their greatest asset. The problem is what I call “alcoholic amnesia” and this is very different from a blackout. Truth be told most alcoholics cannot after a time recall the suffering of even a month or a year ago. Defense mechanisms are an alcoholic’s way of dealing with unpleasant thoughts and feelings. These defense mechanisms become so ingrained into their personalities that they become part of their overall persona. They are revealed in many areas of their life. The most problematic and most common defense mechanism that I see is “denial.” The alcoholic refutes what is so obvious to everyone around them. It is almost impossible to share with an alcoholic your concerns regarding their self-destructive behaviors without a quick rebuttal from the alcoholic. This tendency to refute, to deny, to disagree, to explain away is so common with alcoholics that this tendency becomes an indicator as to the severity of their alcohol problem. It is denial that causes alcoholic amnesia. The alcoholic actually denies their own suffering. There is an answer to what ails an alcoholic but the key to success requires a state of willingness that often only pain and suffering can generate. One of my goals as CEO is to help our clients see the stark truth about their lifestyle. To help them generate the necessary willingness and desire to change that is critical to a successful outcome. I am not talking about increasing shame or guilt; instead I am referring to increasing self-awareness through a variety of exercises designed to bring our clients closer to reality. And the truth is an alcoholic’s reality is often pain enough to generate sufficient willingness to change their life. I believe that almost anyone can change their life if they have a desire to do so. They often need mentorship from people that have walked in their shoes and came out on the sunny side of street. At our facilities, mentorship is a key component to our overall treatment package. Alcoholism recovery is a work in process and the more a person puts in the more a person gets out. This I believe without equivocation!
