| General Information: |
Experienced staff and volunteers provide guidance and support to those seeking to establish a solid foundation of recovery grounded in the spiritual principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Retreat’s philosophy is simple and straightforward; it relies heavily on an integrated community approach. We introduce people who are motivated for change to those who are living recovery at the highest level, making a life of recovery both attractive and within reach. Our strength comes from our collective wisdom and experience and our success is largely based on our ability to involve the broader recovery community in our mission of helping people recover. |
| Facility Description: |
Just minutes from downtown Minneapolis, The Retreat is located amidst 24 acres of old growth forest in the historic Minnesota Big Woods. Deer tracked nature trails meander through the dense woods enhancing The Retreat’s focus on spirituality and personal reflection. The Retreat offers a continuum of recovery services based on the spiritual principles of recovery as found in the Twelve Steps of AA. Guests enjoy the benefit of over 80 beds. All of the men’s beds and many of the women’s beds are private. We also have 56 long term sober living beds located on Summit Avenue in the historic Crocus Hill neighborhood in St Paul, right in the middle of one of the most vibrant recovering communities in the country. |
| Treatment Philosophy Statement: |
The Retreat is a 30-day residential immersion in the spiritual principles of recovery as embodied in the 12 steps of AA. We serve alcoholic and chemically dependent men and women over the age of 18. We have gender specific, autonomous programming. Licensed clinicians and volunteers from the recovery community carry a message based on their own experience. They are full of passion and enthusiasm and serve as very powerful examples of what a life in recovery can be like. The entire staff is in recovery and there is a real feeling that we are all in this together. It is a very simple philosophy based on one addict or alcoholic sharing his experience, strength and hope with another so that together, they can recover. “Let us show you how we have recovered.” |
